For the Person Who Feels Like Everyone is Moving On Without You

Updated: Oct 27, 2019

Maybe you have a plan, maybe you’re acting on a goal, but it’s just taking some time. Maybe you don’t have a plan and you’re trying to figure out what’s next. Either way you are in the perfect seat to watch what feels like everyone move past you in hyper speed while you’re stuck in slow motion.

People are getting new jobs, getting married, having kids, graduating school, and so on and you feel like the only plan that doesn’t make your head spin is to finish watching your favorite Netflix series before the sun goes down. Like adulting? What does that even really mean? It’s harder to get out of bed and harder to keep moving along when it feels like your “plans” or even your “non plans” are wrong. But whose to say there is a right timeline for anything? I know you’ve probably heard this a million times but I’m here to convince you (and between you and me, to partially convince myself) that it’s true!

None of your friends are living a life that would make you happy. Not even Becky on Instagram with the perfect hair and outfit is living a life that would make you happy. That's right not even someone with the perfect insta life is on a path that would make you feel fulfilled. Trust me, I know it may look deceiving. I know you’re probably thinking that you need that thing now, you need that promotion now, you need to have that job now. I guarantee you that’s not true. God has a different timeline for you. He has a different path for what happiness looks like. So stop feeling defeated. Stop trying to rush. Don’t stop working hard and planning big, but don’t feel guilty for feeling lost.

Maybe people are “moving on”, but so are you. It just looks different. It’s not the “traditional” next step. THAT’S OKAY. Take a breath, own your life in the midst of confusion, and love yourself for moving on at your own pace, in your own way.
